Scottish Ceilidh Bands Will Have Everyone Dancing

There is nothing like music performed by a traditional Ceildh band to make your celebration go with a bang. You don’t even need to be Scottish or Irish to appreciate the great music that these bands can play. It is a well known undeniable fact that after a few refreshments even the shyest and most retiring individuals will probably be on the dancefloor and shaking their stuff to the music. So whatever kind of celebration you’ve planned, whether it’s a birthday celebration, wedding party, anniversary or just a reason to get together with friends a live group will make a big difference.

To guarantee a great atmosphere and men and women grooving all night you really want a Ceilidh band to come and play at your gathering. There are obviously other styles of band that you may opt to use but is a jazz band really going to produce the same atmosphere? Ceilidh bands perform traditional country music for folks to get up and boogie to coupled with some songs, jokes and storytelling mixed in for good measure. The songs performed by Ceili bands can vary depending on where you live so Irish Ceili bands will have a different style from Scottish Ceilidh bands but the outcome will be the same-a splendid time for everybody. Each Ceili band features its own caller whose task it is to call the new dances and teach the dancers in the steps which go with each dance. He’ll almost certainly start by giving a brief introduction to the upcoming song and discuss the steps that go with it and call out instructions while the song is being performed. Early on of the night the dances as well as the steps are going to be pretty easy and simple to do. However as the night continues the music will become faster and the steps a bit more difficult to perform. Barn dance bands and Hoedown bands are similar to Ceili bands in many ways. Like Ceili bands they have a caller to name the dances although the music is of course in the American tradition. However there are many parallels between the two with both of them influenced by mostly traditional music with a caller calling the steps. You can have a Ceili or even a Hoedown in almost any place you wish provided that there is plenty of space for folks to get up and dance and have a good time. Callers bands as well as wedding ceilidh bands will provide their PA system and caller so all you have to do is look for a suitable location and fill it with your friends and family and have a thrilling time.
